GCInsight Geocaching Statistics Edition I
Geocaching provides a very rich source of data for analysis. Geocaches are hidden through the world and logged online. Each Geocache listing contains spatial data (latitude and longitude), temporal date (when it was hidden and when its been found) and many other attributes, such as its size, type, difficulty, and how well-liked the geocache is.
In this first analysis, I created an SSIS ETL package to import the geocaching data into SQL server and then, using SSRS, performed an analysis of the general properties of geocaches in Georgia, with a focus toward counties — such as which counties contain the most and least geocaches and where the greatest and fewest favorite caches are located.
